Membership philosophy

A profile should represent growth — not screen time.

The NYA membership system is designed around accomplishments: books explored, questions investigated, experiments completed, creations made, skills practiced, and reflections recorded. The account is a doorway into the Academy, not the purpose of the Academy.

01Identity

House, Academy name, interests, pathway, and personal goals create belonging without requiring public social profiles.

02Progress

Quests, badges, ranks, projects, and reading milestones show what a learner has actually done.

03Reflection

The Passport records what was learned, built, improved, and worth exploring next.

04Adult visibility

Parents or guardians control younger accounts, permissions, progress visibility, and future purchases.

The Academy Passport

One identity across the entire NYA universe.

The Academy Passport is the member’s personal record. It can eventually connect reading, learning quests, Academy World, House achievements, projects, and special events without changing who the learner is from one NYA experience to the next.

Choose your House

Which strength feels most like your starting point?

A House is not a personality box. It is an Academy tradition that recognizes the quality a learner most wants to develop or contribute.

V
HOUSE VALORLEADERSHIP • RESOLVE • RESPONSIBILITY

For those willing to take responsibility.

Valor recognizes initiative, steadiness under pressure, and the willingness to act when action is required. Its strongest members learn that leadership means responsibility for people, not simply being first.

“Stand when it matters.”
Progress through the Academy

Ranks should mark earned capability.

Progression can give young members a sense of momentum without reducing learning to points alone. Advancement should reflect completed work, reflection, and a widening range of skills.

Academy achievements

Badges for things worth becoming better at.

NYA achievements should reward meaningful behaviors and capabilities rather than constant engagement. Some are earned through learning, some through creativity, and some through character.

Parent-controlled by design

Young members get independence.
Adults keep the controls that matter.

For child accounts, registration and account permissions should be controlled by a parent or guardian. NYA should minimize unnecessary personal data, avoid public-by-default profiles, and make progress visible to the responsible adult.

01
Guardian-created accessThe adult establishes or approves the child profile and manages core account settings.
02
Private by defaultLearning records and child profiles are not designed as publicly searchable social profiles.
03
Purchase controlFuture subscriptions, books, game purchases, or add-ons require adult-controlled billing.
04
Progress visibilityAdults can review quests, learning pathways, achievements, and selected portfolio work.

Current website status

The invitation page is ready.
The live account system comes later.

This page defines the membership experience and product architecture. Actual account creation, authentication, parental consent, subscriptions, payment processing, databases, and child-privacy compliance should be implemented as a separate secure application layer before registration is enabled.
